Volunteer of the Year

The Stewartville Area Chamber of Commerce annually recognizes an area Chamber Member with the Volunteer of the Year Award, presented at the Annual Banquet held in January each year.

The Annual Volunteer of the Year Award provides opportunity to publicly recognize one Chamber Member who exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism and community leadership through participation in Chamber of Commerce committees, programs and activities.

 Award will be based on one or all of the following criteria:

           *   Long term contribution to a variety of Chamber activities

           *   Outstanding contribution to one particular area of Chamber activity

           *   Volunteer leadership in an innovative Chamber activity

Dave is the co-chairperson for the Summerfest Dance and in charge of beverage planning. He has been as asset for this event with his organization skills, equipment setup, and attention to detail. Dave brings all of his own equipment and takes all of his volunteer tasks seriously. He shows up to all of the chamber activities and events that he can make it to when he isn’t working endless hours from all of his businesses. He finds time to squeeze in ribbon cuttings and networking nights to meet new members and establish communication with the community. He’s top-notch!

2021 Volunteer of the Year

Alisha Nelson

First American Insurance Services

Alisha Nelson is on the Winterfest Committee and plays the big part of organizing Park Night for Winterfest. She is on the Chamber Board of Directors. Alisha commits to volunteering for several chamber activities and events - Pizza Ranch Tip Nights, Senior Appreciation Banquet, Summerfest, ribbon cuttings, and so much more. Alisha makes Stewartville a better place!

2020 Volunteer of the Year

Jennifer Martin

Storage Solutions

Jen volunteers on the Chamber Winterfest Committee. She also volunteers every chance she has available - Pizza Ranch Tip Nights, Summerfest, Oktoberfest, and participates in all of our chamber activities through her business membership with Storage Solutions. Jen is a valuable community member to Stewartville.

Robert Hruska

Fareway Grocery Manager

Robert (far left) has been actively involved with the Chamber since he relocated here from Iowa several years ago. He has been a valuable community member by supporting many community groups, the City of Stewartville, and the school district. Robert has worn many hats for Chamber as President, Chairperson of Arts in the Park, Chairperson of the community growth forum, and has filled in on the Board of Directors in many positions.

Megan has been an active community volunteer for several years and has chaired the Winterfest event with high energy and positivity. She brought new ideas to the event and hosted many smaller events within the Winterfest weekend. She continues to be our Winterfest chairperson and was elected as a director for the Chamber Board of Directors.

2017 Volunteers of the Year

Al Chihak, Mystic Moon Antiques & Collectibles

Al Chihak has been actively involved with the Stewartville Area Chamber of Commerce for several years as a volunteer for ALL of the events, a Director for the Chamber Board of Directors and a great sounding board for small businesses.

Melissa Leuning, Teigen Paper Supply

Melissa Leuning has been actively involved with the Stewartville Area Chamber of Commerce for many years as a volunteer, several stints as an interim administrator, chairperson for Summerfest, Winterfest, Senior Appreciation Banquet and many other short term committees. Melissa served on the Executive Board of Directors as the 2014 Vice President , 2015 President and 2016 Past President and was a Director for many previous years and in 2017.
